Dogtown Half Marathon

The Dogtown Half Marathon was a great adventure. I had every intention to get a new PR, but due to a nasty cold in January, my training was halted and well, I ran to finish. The conditions were perfect. Just the right breeze. Not too hot and not too cold. We couldn't have asked for a better day.

Pre-Race photo (like the cool beanie?)

I ran with my sister, cousin and friend. We all ran together through mile 8.
Here we are as a group somewhere in the canyon. Skyler, Devin, me and Emily (left to right)

My cousin and I increased the pace to ensure we would at least get under 2 hours. We did it. Want to know the best part? We got the exact same time 1:56:46. We were pretty stoked about that.

Devin and I running in together (I'm in blue). Finish was at Staheli farms. kind of cool, except for the smell of "farm".

The course is one that was both scenic and challenging, but not overly challenging. The majority of it was downhill, with a few places that were uphill.

The race was really organized with a lot of amazing volunteers. It is one that I would recommend for people especially if you are just starting out on the half marathon. They even have a few other options besides the half marathon like the 5k and 1k if you want.

Again, I didn't get my PR, but I really enjoyed the race. It was the best because I was able to be with family and friends during the race and after.

Post Race photo with those that participated. (yes even Devin's daughter and wife participated in the 1k).

Oh I love Altra. Notice how my sister, myself and Devin are running in them? yeah, I love them so much I convinced them to use switch shoes.
